Flooring Help: Should You Refinish or Replace Your Hardwood Floors?

If your floors are worn, scratched, or just don’t look the way they used to, the first question is usually: do you refinish them, or is it time to replace them? It’s a common situation, and the answer isn’t always as straightforward as it seems—because every floor has its own story and condition.

In many cases, hardwood floors can be brought back to life with sanding and refinishing.

If the boards are still solid and the damage is mostly on the surface, refinishing is often the better choice. It saves money, keeps the character of your home, and can make your floors look like new again.

But if the floors are severely damaged, uneven, or have been sanded too many times over the years, replacement may be the right path. It’s not always the first option—but sometimes it’s the one that will last the longest.

The key is taking a careful look before making a decision. A quick answer isn’t always the right one.

If you’re unsure what your floors need, feel free to reach out or send a text—I’m happy to take a look and help you make the right call!
